It's a blu blufrog world

BluFrog, the "crazy good, mad healthy" energy drink is currently giving away crazy good, mad cool prizes and I want to win!

Ever heard of lollapalooza? Unless you just hate music and live under a rock of course you have. Well how does airfare, hotel, transporation and 2 tickets to one of if not the biggest concert of the year sound?

Not your scene?

How about counting down the clock while watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve in New York City? 3 nights in a luxury hotel and a helicopter ride over the city sound like one heck of a good way to bring in the new year!

Then again if you're more like my boyfriend a ultimate gaming system package may be more up your alley. Xbox 360 Elite System (includes 1 controller & Xbox LIVE Headset), Rock Band 2 Bundle, Call of Duty: World at War Complete Package, Xbox Wireless Networking Adapter, Complimentary X-Shot, and 2 Cases of Blu Frog Energy

Of course if you're a sports enthusiest there is a prize for you too! Take a ride on the wild side in the Richard Petty Experience. Suit up and hop behind the wheel for a night of speed that you won't soon forget! Or if that's not dangerous enough for you, bundle up in your warmest gear and head over to Aspen for front row seats to the Winter X Games.

Personally, I'm all about the helicopter ride over New York.

This Christmas, you can be a hero too

If you've ever watched Extreme Make-over Home Edition then you already know that Sears is a company that cares about people.

Well this year they are going above and beyond. With the
Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry you can make a donation that will be used to purchase gift cards to be distributed to Military Families that have expressed a need this Christmas.

Some families have a deployed parent who will be missing Christmas with their spouse and child(ren), some have just returned home from a long tour overseas and will be spending the first Christmas with their family in years. You can read the stories of these Heroes and their families at Sears.com

These men and women have given so much so that we can have the freedom to celebrate Christmas in any way we believe. Maybe you can only donate $5, maybe you can donate $50, but every little bit will help make these families' Christmas a little more joyous.

I Garontee it's gonna taste good!

New Orleans recently wrapped up it's 5th annual Great American Seafood Cook Off.

As one of the nation’s most prestigious culinary events, the Great American Seafood Cook-Off seeks out top-level chefs from across the country to compete and prepare seafood dishes using sustainable and domestic seafood, showcasing the best culinary products from their state.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal issued a challenge to the governors of all 50 states to send their most prized chef to compete in the cook-off.

They're also having a contest for us less than savy super chefs. You visit the website and vote for your favorite recipe using domestic, sustainable seafood and enter to win a "Trip to New Orleans" prize package including two Southwest Airline roundtrip tickets, hotel accommodations, dining experiences and more.

The top 5 finalists are from Colorado, Maryland, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. You'd think that being from MS, that's the chef I'd vote for, regardless of the dish, but it didn't quite work out that way.

I'm not particularly fond of fish. Now I enjoy a good Mahi Mahi every now and then, but my seafood preferences lean more toward crab and shrimp. But it's not because his recipe is a fish dish that I didn't vote for the MS chef. It's because the likelyhood of me (or any average cook) being able to pull it off in the standard home kitchen was slim to none!

My pick was the Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet by Louisiana chef Brian Landry. He's kind of cute too! But of course that had no influence on my decision whatsoever. No ma'am. Not only does his dish look absolutely DELISH.. the recipe is something I could actually follow and possibly pull off! The only thing I'd change is using a veggie sausage substitute. Oh and probably half the amount of creole seasoning. I'm such a sissy when it comes to spicy foods.

The more I look at the picture and recipe the more I'm thinking I may actually try it. Although I normally buy my shrimp pre-cooked and bagged at the grocery store, I pass half a dozen fresh seafood places around town on a regular basis so I might have to support the local fishermen and pick me up a few pounds of fresh smelly raw shrimp and actually follow the directions on a recipe for once.

Click on over to www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and check out the 5 finalist recipes and vote for your chance to win the "Trip to New Orleans" prize package!

She's got the look..

Lately I've been blogging here and there about the ins and outs of online dating.
Ok I've blogged about not having the first clue how to date and I've had other people post about how it's actually done, but today I'm going to talk about what it takes to meet and attract a date in person.

I know right, I'm just the person to talk about this, what with all the maddening success I've had. Anyway.

According to
Extreme Style by VO5, hair is a big part of catching someone's attention. Not just any hair though, oh no, to snag the man of your dreams you need Victory Hair.

Definition of 'Victory Hair' courtesy of VO5: "The messy state of an attractive person's hair after he/she has engaged in 'freaky activities'.

Sounds to me that Victory Hair comes AFTER some successfully flirting with the man of your dreams. Oh! And you need to know how to flirt. Damn, I knew I was doomed! Ha, moving on.

It might not look like it now, thank you imcompetant boob of a hair stylist, but good hair is something I know a thing or two about. I've always had great hair. And great hair seems to go a long way in helping with "the look". Who comes up with this stuff?

What is "the look" you ask?

You know, when you see someone you think is hot, and you want to get their attention to let them know that you think they're hot, you give them "the look".

I had to do a bit of digging but I finally found a pic where I think I might be giving "the look". It's from a photo shoot I did back in 2004, so try to look past the faux fur and candy cane.

Yes the candy cane was real and it was very very sticky. Moving on.

So that's my version of "the look". It basically says "Hey, I was noticing you, and I noticed that you noticed me noticing you, so I'm going to give you a look that says I want you to notice me back". Got it? Good.

I never claimed to be any good at flirting but I feel fairly confident that I could manage to pull off the look if I tried hard enough. Now if I could just run into a guy that would notice that I wanted him to notice me noticing him.

VO5 has this hilarious little online game you can play called 'The Ultimate Flirting Championship'. While you're waiting to play the game check out the Flirting Tips. Here's a few I thought were cute.

#29 - Be yourself. Just don't do that weird thing that you do (you know what we're talking about)

#87 - If you can't dance take your date to a monster truck show

#42 - Be creative with your responses. When in doubt pretend you speak something exotic. Like Icelandic

Gah! Where have these tips been all my life?! If I'd only known.. I'd have never been single so long!

You can check out the game here VO5 Ultimate Flirting Championship.

Nameless superhero chic to the rescue!

If you were a superhero what would your name be?

Mine would be... uh it would be..... ya you could call me.....

I have absolutely no idea. No I take that back.. right this very moment I'd be appropriately named Weirdo gets sick in summer girl or according to the Manga hero name generator at seventhsanctum.com Nunurui.

Coming up with a superhero name was surprisingly harder than I thought it would be. I mean I thought of all the strongest most positive characteristics in myself and figured I could come up with something.. anything but nope.

I mean Strong Willed Positive Aggressively Organized Girl Who Wants to Save the World just doesn't have a really smooth ring to it. Ya know? The bad guy would be long gone before someone even finished calling out my name for help!

Well the super action charged characters of the wildly popular Japanese comic Bleach don't have that problem. I thought about borrowing one of their names for my Super Hero Nom de Guerre but then that wouldn't have been very super hero'ish of me.

I can't say that I've ever been a huge fan or follower of Anime, well other than my brief Aeon Flux addiction, but I have always had admiration for the art work.

For those who are big fans of the genre and Bleach in specific there is good news.

NCM Fathom and Viz Media present
Bleach the Movie showing in select movie theatres nationwide for two nights only - June 11th and 12th at 7:30 PM!

You can visit Fathom Events online for a list of participating theaters in your area.

Blood and guts and death Oh My!

Horror Movies

Some like them, some don’t.

I’m one of those that do.

Now I’m not talking about some lame you know its fake but jump at the screen anyway Freddie Kruger stuff. I’m talking about, omg this kind of stuff is really out there and I’d rather have my head chopped off in one fell swoop than imagine that happening to me kind of horror films. I’m much more into (and disturbed by) movies that portray some semblance of reality than I am by those that lean toward trying to be scary in more of a fantasy or sci-fi manner.

Frontier(s) can be if not safely then at least securely placed in the former category. It’s about a gang of young thieves who flee Paris during the violent aftermath of a political election, only to hole up at an Inn run by neo-Nazis.

I’ve watched the
trailer to this movie and it’s sick. Sick in a, this is horrible and I really should look away but can’t seem to turn my head type way. My mom has always told me I had a morbid side. I used to love watching this show on the discovery channel called The Operation, and I had no trouble whatsoever watching it while eating a big gooey plate of spaghetti. Mmm nothing like slurping noodles covered in tomato sauce while watching some one’s intestines being rearranged. Sweet.

Frontier(s) is most definitely a horror film I’d watch. It’s right up there with Saw and Hostel in general grossness and body mutilation. No strike that, it goes way above and beyond those movies. It opens May 13th and is only showing in a
few select locations. That totally has me bummed because one of those locations is Detroit, and I’d be able to go see it if I still lived in Michigan. Pout.

Unknown

Apparently the fact that this film is unrated is causing a bit of controversy. I can understand that to some extent. Not having a rating means that there are no clear cut recommendations as to the age group that should or should not be allowed to watch the film. It also means that parents and ultra-conservative types the squeamish may decide to go see it (or allow their kids to) and end up seeing much more than they’d like or think “appropriate”.

I’d personally not allow anyone under the age of 18 in this film, and that’s just from the previews I’ve seen. It’s extremely violent, contains nudity, and what could be called sexual content. It’s also in French with English subtitles so even if you don’t clearly make out what all is being said around the screaming, you can read it on the screen. No escaping the nasty in this film. So if you're into gore and guts like I am, and if you're lucky enough for it to be playing in your area go see it, and try not to come back and tell me how awesome it was.
